Karen Holder is the founder and owner of Lotus Disability Care Group. Karen is a Registered Nurse with over 35 years experience in the health industry from Acute Hospital experience to community supports. Karen has extensive experience in Aged Care and Dementia, Palliative Care, Theatre and Recovery Nursing, Mental Health, Complex Wound Care, Brain injuries including seizure management and Neuro- degenerative conditions.
During the 30 years working in inpatient care, Karen had noticed there were huge gaps in providing acute care in the hospital and maintaining reasonable health and wellbeing in the community. She felt that supporting the same people in the community to stay healthy, gain skills for better health and have opportunities for equitable access to supportive care was essential to the health of individuals and families in the community.
Karen embarked on a journey of passion to provide a service that not just supported vulnerable people in our communities but also educate those working with them as well as the local communities to engage and take responsibility for those around them.
Karen believes that providing social supports, being able to access our communities equitably and have opportunities for personal growth through education, work opportunities and social engagement is the key to achieving optimal health and wellbeing.
With this notion at it’s core, Lotus Disability Care, provides support for NDIS participants through a variety of services including support with daily activities such as hygiene needs, meal support, domestic support, social and community support, budgeting and Medication support. We also provide education support, skills based activities such as cooking, craft and gardening workshops. We provide opportunities for weekly day trips and respite to support families that need extra support.
Education is a key priority for Karen, and workers are skilled in not only mandatory training but also have an extensive ongoing learning portfolio keeping them abreast of current and new information. Karen recognizes that personal growth begins with necessary information and presents these opportunities to workers and participants alike.

Lotus Disability Care is passionate about creating a community that allows for equal rights to access, opportunities and support. We believe that all individuals deserve to live a life of fulfillment, respect and be actively engaged and supported in their communities.
We believe that through education and advocacy, the wider community will embrace the unique qualities and abilities of people with disabilities. In doing this, we can create communities that value diversity and inclusiveness.
We believe in a person-centered approach to care, where the individual’s needs, preferences, and goals are at the forefront of everything we do.
Our staff members are highly trained, compassionate professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and support.
We promote an inclusive environment where individuals of all abilities are valued, respected, and encouraged to participate fully in community life.
